(VEN) - Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung made his statement while receiving Martin Dulig, Deputy Minister-President and Minister of Economic Affairs, Labour, and Transport of the German Federal State of Sachsen, in Hanoi on November 19.

He said the capital city values its developing cooperation with several German localities. Most recently, local authorities supported the German Embassy in organising the Deutschland Fest 2018, which provided German experiences in Hanoi and attracted a large number of visitors.

The municipal leader stressed that Hanoi priorities using technologies from Europe, particularly Germany, in local projects for water supply and environmental pollution treatment.

The city has set the target of supplying all of its citizens with European-standard water by 2020. In response to the goal, over the past two years, 24 foreign and domestic investors have joined 31 projects. The Duong river plant, carried out by a German joint venture between the Aone Deutschland AG and Strabang companies, was among those projects. The plant began operations in October this year, producing 150,000cu.m of water per day.

Aquaone and Germany AoneDeusheuche signed a MoU for investment co-operation on solar panels on top of the water treatment system at the Duong River water treatment plant.

For his part, Martin Dulig said Hanoi is growing with vitality and a young population, thus sharing many common challenges of other big cities around the world, including Sachsen’s biggest city of Leipzig.

He suggested the Vietnamese capital and cities of Sachsen work together to find measures for their development issues.

He said with its experience in waste water and environmental pollution treatment, as well as transport development, Sachsen is looking forward to joining collaboration programmes with Vietnam and Hanoi in particular, contributing to local urban growth and better living standards for all.

Within the visiting framework, the deputy minister entities and enterprises had visited Song Duong Surface Water Treatment Plant (SDWTP). He also witnessed the signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Aquaone and Germany AoneDeusheuche for investment co-operation in constructing a solar energy system on top of the water treatment tank at the Duong river water treatment plant with a potential capacity of up to 10.8mWp. The MoU would contribute to the promotion of co-operation, technology transfer and experience exchange in developing efficient investment projects in Vietnam.

At SDWTP, the meeting’s focus were on exchanging and sharing experiences on investing cooperation in implementing technical infrastructure project such as water supply; wastewater and mud treatment; renewable energy; new technologies development with Aquaone enterprise; visiting the phase 1A plant; visiting the construction site for phase 1B according to the plant expansion scheme.

The plant, with total capacity reaching 900,000cu.m per day and investment capital for phase 1 at approximately VND5 trillion (US$214.1 million), was constructed in accordance with Hanoi’s water supply scheme till 2030.

SDWTP has been in operation and supplying water commercially since October 2018 with the capacity of 150,000 m3 per day night. The phase 2 of capacity enhancement to 300,000 m3 per day night till October 2019 has already commencing and conducted by Aone Deutschland AG and Strabag joint-venture contractor from Germany. With state-of-the-art technology, the plant materializes the objective of Ha Noi City, which is to supply clean water to citizens satisfying all German and European drinkable at valve standards.

The current state of stable operation of phase 1A is contributed by highly-skillful and professional operating team under strict technical supervision and support from German experts, along with stringent compliance to rigid monitoring procedures started from controlling the quality of raw water input and processed water output all the way to inspecting and maintaining equipments system. All procedures are performed in accordance to coherent process, with frequent periodic inspection of water sample to ensure highest level of quality.

The plant will supply fresh water to the North-East region of Ha Noi City including: Long Bien district (14 wards), Gia Lam county (22 communes), Dong Anh county (20 communes), Soc Son county (26 communes), urban and industrial zone adjacent to 179 road; and South region of Ha Noi City including: Hoang Mai district (14 wards), Thanh Tri county (15 communes), Thuong Tin county (29 communes), Phu Xuyen county (28 communes) and other nearby regions experiencing water scarcity like Bac Ninh, Hung Yen…

Song Duong water treatment plant with total capacity reaching 900,000 m3 per day night and investment capital for

phase 1 at approximately 5,000 billion VND was constructed in accordance to Ha Noi’s water supply scheme till 2030

and vision till 2050. The plant is currently operating for commercial supply with capacity of 150,000 m3 per day night

satisfying the QCVN 01:2009/BYT standard – The national technical standard for drinkable water quality issued by

the Ministry of Health. Future expansion and capacity enhancements are under construction in accordance to plan

with maximum capacity reaching 300,000 m3 per day night in October 2019, 600,000 m3 per day night in 2021,

900,000 m3 per day night in 2025 and 1,200,000 m3 per day night at final vision respectively.
